UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

Humanities and Social Sciences Common Course

Fostering well-rounded experts understanding the relation between an individual and a society

Specialists in engineering involved in research and development in a wide range of fields of our lives should, along with possessing up-to-date skills and knowledge, have a certain sense of how to deal with people as well as insight into society and matters affecting it.
In order to nurture well-rounded experts, we provide comprehensive and systematic education on the subjects of humans, societies, cultures and languages.

Curriculum features

The pillars of our common course (human sciences) are liberal arts and supplementary special subjects.
The purpose of the liberal arts courses is to provide a broad general education.
Lectures include intensive language courses (students select one of the two second foreign languages offered, i.e. German or Chinese), basics in humanities and social sciences as well as physical education.
In the supplementary special subjects we implement education to train strong and critical thinking skills, indispensable for industrial engineering and researchers.
Students select one of the two courses, “environment and humanity” or “arts and culture” and attend the relevant lectures and seminars.
